Junior Country Risk Strategist and Sovereign Risk Underwriter (f/m/x)

Do you want to identify transmission channels from macroeconomic, geopolitical, and industry trends and provide well-argued input to the risk decision-making process? Do you want to take an active role in managing sovereign credit risk, including setting and steering sovereign limits and ensuring alignment with the Group’s risk appetite?

Your mission at RBI:

 

  • Identify and analyze economic and geopolitical trends and their transmission to industry and country footprints, with implications for RBI's strategy.
  • Produce and present concise, well-argued, and decision-enhancing analyses on respective countries.
  • Drive sovereign credit risk management, including helping set the risk appetite toward high-risk sovereign counterparties. Proactively manage sovereign ratings, exposures, and limits through timely risk identification and mitigation.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication and cooperation as a foundation for the risk decision-making process.


Your core competencies:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related studies.
  • Work experience in economic research or risk management at an international bank or institution preferred.
  • Deep interest and curiosity in global macroeconomics and financial markets, coupled with a proactive risk management mindset.
  • Ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, and translate complex information into clear messages for decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with AI tools to accelerate and optimize analytical and data work.

  • Competitive salary: In accordance with Austrian legal requirements, the minimum salary for this position is EUR 3.725,93 gross per month under the applicable Banking Collective Agreement. The actual salary is typically higher and will be determined individually based on your qualifications, professional experience, and the specific requirements of the role.
