Senior Data Engineer for Group DWH Product (f/m/x)

In order to strengthen our delivery capability and business know-how, we are looking for an ambitious and service-oriented data engineer in the agile-shaped IT Delivery Unit Group DWH Product. Our unit is responsible for product development and product innovations of the group wide business intelligence platform which is the basis for bank steering (CFO, CRO) as well as compliance and marketing.
Although based in Vienna, the Data Engineer has a strong CEE focus and interaction with clients in 15 countries. Intercultural skills and customer orientation are key success factors.

Your responsibilities:
  • Detailed designing and implementation of the data warehouse components such as:
    • data warehouse architecture, logical and physical structures and objects
    • data integration processes (ETL/ELT) architecture and solutions,
    • business intelligence reports/models and/or
    • other business intelligence or data warehouse solutions
  • Estimation of efforts and timelines
  • Implement prototypes in close cooperation with end-user 
  • Ensure stability, performance and cost-efficiency of the developed  components in design- and implementation phase
  • Create logical and physical database models
  • Unit testing of the developed components
  • Proper quality assurance of the developed components
  • Know-how transfer to other team members regarding the developed components
  • Refactoring and optimization of existing components
  • Root cause analysis of a defect/incident/problem (acc. ITIL) within the defined response time
  • Resolution of defect/incident/problem (acc. ITIL) root cause within the defined response time
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Create, maintain and/or contribute to solution requirements documentation
  • Support the release to production, e.g. by being at office during the Go-Live (mostly in the evening hours) or acts as an on-call contact
  • Gain necessary business know-how for optimal implementation and 2nd level support
  • Investigate new technologies and provide proposals for their application
  • 2nd Level Support for developed components
  • Manage product releases and small projects
  • Coach/Perform trainings for other team members within his/her technological knowledge domains
  • Implement or customize reusable components, libraries, artefacts or tools
  • Maintain know-how and update knowledge transfer platforms (e.g. Wiki’s, information portals)
  • Continually update technical knowledge and skills by attending inhouse and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications.

Your qualification:
  • Minimum 5 years working experience with development of:
    • conceptual, logical and physical design of database structures and objects,
    • conceptual, logical and physical design of data warehouse structures and objects,
    • data integration processes and packages (ETL/ELT),
    • business intelligence reports/models and/or
    • other business intelligence or data warehouse solutions
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience with DBMS such as Oracle Database or PostgreSQL
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience with ETL/ELT software such as ODI,  Talend or other
  • Experience with meta-data driven ETL/ELT frameworks
  • Experience in performing analysis and design for Data Management and Data Driven projects
  • Excellent know-how in data warehouse design/techniques/approaches (Inmon, Kimball)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Practical experience and ability to teach or instruct co-workers
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with cloud environments and cloud data platforms such as AWS, MS Azure, Snowflake, etc.
  • Work experience with API
  • Good knowledge in requirements engineering
  • Practical experience with agile work environments
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the most important bank steering business processes (finance controlling, risk management)
  • High level of communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Team player, service orientation, high level of commitment and motivation
  • Organized, analytical, result-oriented and structured
  • Experience with knowledge management, coaching and training
  • Fluent knowledge of English
